POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN FRUIT BIOCHEMISTRY (2-3 years)
Position Description
The postdoctoral position will actively participate to a project on melon fruit quality (flavor and
aroma). The successful applicant will be responsible for designing and implementing integrative
experiments including phenotyping, metabolomics, and transcriptomics. The applicant will conduct
physico-chemical and sensory analysis, and develop fine phenotyping tools for measuring key fruit
quality components in melons. Through collaboration with breeders and plant geneticists, the
phenotyping data will then be used to assist breeding for quality.
The position is based at UC-Davis and involves lab work with the most relevant UCD laboratories and
platforms, and the HM.Clause R&D teams in Davis California, France and other global stations.
Qualifications

Ph.D. degree in plant biochemistry or related fields with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge and experience in methods and tools in analytical chemistry for primary and
secondary metabolites (HS-SPME/GC-MS, capillary electrophoresis) and sensory analysis (expert
panel evaluation).

Experience with chemical sensor technology would be a plus.

Skilled in project management.

Well-versed in the statistical methods and software for data analysis.

Able to work both independently and in teams. Creative problem solving skills.

Skilled in experimental design. Effective communicator (written and verbal).
This is a full time position 1 year with the possibility of renewal based on funding and satisfactory
performance.
