Cell Cycle Construction Project
For this activity, you will construct five cells, each representing a phase of the cell cycle. You will use the
following materials:
Pipe cleaners
Beads
Yarn
Glue
Construction paper
Scissors
Colored pencils
You may make either plant or animal cells. Your cell will start prophase with three
replicated chromosomes. Remember, plant cells create a cell plate during telophase
and animal cells have centrioles. Your cells must include the chromosomes,
centromeres, spindle fibers, nuclear membrane, nucleolus and cell membrane. Each
structure must be labeled on the prophase cell. The cell parts should be consistent in
each of your four cells.
