grow?
2. How do broken bones mend (heal)?
Key Terms:
Cell Theory - is the theory that all living things are made of
one or more cells, the cell is the basic unit of life, and all
cells come from other cells.
Nucleus - it is the main organelle of the cell, which directs
the cell’s activities.
DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) - the genetic chemical found
in all living things.
Chromatin - long strands of DNA scattered throughout a
cell’s nucleus.
Cell Membrane - a covering around a cell that controls
materials that go in and out of the cell.
Chromosomes - found in the nucleus, a double-stranded,
threadlike structure that carries genetic information.
Genes - a unit of the genetic information that determines a
specific characteristic of an individual.
Cytoplasm - the area of the cell where nutrients are
absorbed, transported and processed.
Organelle - a specialized structure inside plants and
animal cells.
Cell Wall – the non-living outermost part of a plant cell.
Flagellum – a whip like tail on the outside of a cell
membrane that helps the cell move.
