A Bill to Increase United States Military Presence in
the South China Sea
BE IT ENACTED BY THE CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

SECTION 1​. The United States will significantly increase its military
presence within the borders of the South China Sea to protect
America and its allies.
SECTION 2​. a. “Military presence” is defined as the number of ship patrol
days of Navy ships in the South China Sea.

1. “Ship patrol days” is defined as the cumulative tally of

how many days each American warship spends in the South

China Sea.

b. “90 percent” is defined as increasing Navy patrol days from

700 days per year to 1,330 patrol ships per year in the South
China Sea.

c. “Borders of the South China Sea” is defined as the region of
15
international waters in between the countries of Vietnam,
16
China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.

d. “Aggression” is defined as the building of man-made islands
18
in the South China Sea and the presence of unauthorized
19

military vessels in the international waters of the South China
Sea.
22 SECTION 3​. This bill will be implemented by the Department of Defense.

a. The Department of Defense will oversee the increase in
24 military presence in the South China Sea.
25 SECTION 4. This bill will be implemented immediately upon passage.

28 SECTION 5. All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null
and void.
