Dengue fever is a potentially fatal disease that has no specific drug treatment.
Seemingly, this mosquito-borne infection is here to stay thwarting all prevention
efforts. Last year more than 10,000 dengue cases were reported in the city of
Kaohsiung alone. As of August this year, more than three thousand have been
confirmed in Tainan. Do you think the government is doing what it should to control
the problem and is doing enough? What are some of the more effective measures we
can take to minimize the number of mosquitoes? Can dengue ever be eradicated from
Taiwan? Write an essay of at least 120 words discussing these questions and any
related issues.
Recently, Dengue fever has striken Taiwan dramatically especially in the
southern cities. It is obvious that the number of the cases is increasing constantly and
it seems that the situation is out of control. What’s worse, the potentially fatal disease
has no specific drug threatment, which enhances the popularity of mosquito-borne
infection. Though the problem is not east to handle, I think the government makes
their all-out effort to deal with the diease which may mitigate the high number of
infection. The government continously announces the knowledge of Dengue fever on
radio, TV and other media platforms, making people learn more about the disease.
Therefore, citizens will know the formation of the disease, what complication will be
trigger and what they should do to prevent themselves from the disease. I think the
announcement that government makes is very effective and is a good way to cope
with the problem. Moreover, I think the tight connection between the hospitals and
government is also a great measure that government takes. Because of this, the
government can definitely control the population and the distribution of the disease
and figure out what is going to do next. The government is doing their best to
alleviate the situiation and is trully doing what it should to tackle every problem.
To minimize the number of mosquitoes, there are some measures we can take.
First, the chemical method is the most effective way to reduce the mosquitoes. With
the chemical substance, the mosquitoes will die in a short time and will not be able to
carry the virus that infects human anymore. Second, cleaning the environment is also
a good way to expel from you. Dry the capacities that can collect water in case that
the mosquitoes can spare their eggs in the water. In addition, remove the things that
you don’t need for fear that the mosquitoes can hide among them. The two measures
above are some way to diminish the main factor of the dengue – mosquitoes.
According to the research, dengue is hardly to be eradicated from Taiwan
because of the latitude. Parts of Taiwan is located below 23.5°N where mosquitoes are
used to live. The subtropical climate provides the great surrounding for mosquitoes
that makes it hard for Taiwan to get out of the dengue. Hence, dengue will exsist in
Taiwan forever which can’t be deleted so we all have to face the problem and handle
it in the proper way.
Dengue fever is a disease that we can’t ignore and have to confront. Not only
the government but also every one of us have to do something to reduce the rate of the
disease. And I think with the effort we make, the situation will get better and we will
all go through this challenge safe and sound. Disease is not that scary only if we face
it and find any possible way out. All things will be fine, and the storm of Dengue
fever will also be fine.
