A Foreboding Look into the Stock Market’s Future?
As one can see from the chart below the Dow and S&P in the early 1930’s and 2007 shared very similar chart patterns in both their
historic precipitous declines and subsequent substantial rallies.
As one can clearly see, the Dow is now very close to a major peak similar to 1937 where after one of the most powerful rallies in
history (like we also experienced over the past 4 years), it fell 47%! Are we close to a critical turning point in the stock market? Will
this eerily similar chart pattern continue with a substantial decline in the Dow?
Gary Shilling, Bloomberg columnist and noted economist believes he has the answer. Mr Shilling called the stock market crash of
2008 as well as the bottom in 2009! He warned investors of an impending market crash before 2013 is over in a March 23, 2013,
MarketWatch article, New Critical Warning as 2013 shocker looms. In the article he stated:
Timing is critical at a turning point. We warned of the coming crash well in advance in 2008. We picked the bottom in March
2009. We are in the fifth year of an aging bull. These six Critical Warnings tell of a hard turning point dead ahead. Wake
up. It takes time to restructure a portfolio. If you think you can do nothing and just wait for another year, you are like most
investors: You just “can’t handle the truth.” Or you “have no idea what’s about to happen.” Or you believe “this time really is
different.”
Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.
