Living Above Your Circumstances The Perspective of Purpose You have no control over your circumstances, but you have 100% control over your perspective 1) What is your focus? On what you have, or what you don’t have? This will affect your experience in life! 2) What are your expectations? Are they on the unpredictable things of this world or on the faithful and unshakableness of God! What is your purpose for living? Your focus, your expectations, goals, objectives, and plans are all derived from what you see as your purpose in life. For you and me to find our fulfillment in life, our purpose for living must be aligned with God’s purpose Romans 8:28-29 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; John 13:5, 12-17 5 Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 12 So when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? 13 "You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. "If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 "For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. 14 16 "Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. 17 "If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them." To understand our purpose in life, we must understand God’s purpose better - otherwise we are living in our own dream world, which will only bring greater frustration and difficulties in life. What is Jesus’ Purpose? 1 John 3:8 The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. Matthew 20:28 "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." Matthew 26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. 2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich. Philippians 2:7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 1 Timothy 2:6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds. Revelation 1:5 To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
