Comprehensive Industry Document Fruit and Vegetable Processing Industry
Foreword
The documents under the Series 'Comprehensive In(justry Document'
(COINDS) brought out by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), are
designed to cover the status of various categories of industry in the country in
respect of number of units, their locations, capacities, manufacturing
processes, wastewater generation and characteristics and unit processes for
treatment and control of discharge and emissions of pollutants. The effluent
and emission standards also form part of these documents.
The present document on Fruit and Vegetable Processing Industry is one in
the series.
Best practicable technology currently available and its economic viability are
the basis on which the standards are evolved. Economic viability has been
assessed based on cost calculation expressed as total annual burden due to
pollution abatement and control as a percentage of total annual turnover. The
standards evolved herein have been notified by the Ministry of Environment &
Forests under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
This document is based on the basic report prepared by the National Productivity Council, New Delhi on an
assignment from CPCB.
