de-regulationistospurcompetition,innovationandconsequentiallydrivebetteroutcomesfor
consumers.
Duetoahighdegreeofcompetitionandlackofapparentdifferentiation,REPsoperatinginde-regulated
powermarketsfaceatremendousamountofcustomerchurnandhighrelativecustomeracquisitions
costs.ThisisaproblemforREPsinadvancedde-regulatedpowermarketsglobally.TheresultforREPsis
relativelylowlifetimecustomervalueandlowrelativecompanyvaluations.
Keytoimprovingperformanceisatoolsettoacquireandengagecustomersmoreeffectively,anda
portfolioofhighervalueproductswithlongertenure.Advancesincostandperformanceofnewenergy
anddigitaltechnologiesholdthepromiseofenablingtheseefforts.
Dataanalyticscansupportmoreeffectivecustomertargetingtoimproveconversionrates,sellhigher
valueitemsandbuildtrust.Betterappscanimprovecustomerengagementbyproviding(realtime)
insightintopowerusageandcouldbeachanneltodeliveringnewproducts.Acquiringandmaintaining
