Wal-Mart versus Target There are always options and different places you can go to shop; however, shopping is not always fun and can sometimes result in a headache. Nonetheless, living in America there are always hundreds of stores competing for the best in the market. Now in the United States we have two stores that have great quality things and carry more products anyone needs. On the other hand, they still go head to head for the lowest prices, sales, and protecting the Earth. These three aspects of the store continue to rise as competition for each Wal-Mart and Target when trying to stay ahead in the market. Wal-Mart has become one of America’s most successful retail chains by offering everyday goods at low prices for middle class families. Target, however, has a 3% more increase on their products and goods sold in store, which makes their products more expensive. “We are absolutely committed to offering our customers low prices every day. If customers find a lower advertised price we’ll match it every time”, said Tovar, CNN Money (Wal-Mart). In comparison, both Wal-Mart and Target has the two lowest prices in the United States and continue to beat other stores in the retail chain. When it comes to sales both Wal-Mart and Target have the generic brand “Great Value” and “Up Up.” According to Anthony Mirhaydari in his article, Wal-Mart vs. Target: Who'll win the recovery?, “For the first time since the recession began, Target enjoyed better sales and customer traffic numbers than Wal-Mart did.” In contrast, Wal-Mart sales are frequent throughout the week and continue to have greater sales that beat Target. Moreover, both stores continue to have many sale products for very low prices the majority of the week. To keep our Earth protected and healthy it’s very important that everyone begin to go green and that's what both Wal-Mart and Target now succeed in doing. In reference, it seems as if Target is doing a better job at doing so. According to Ariel Schwartz in his article, Sustainability Faceoff: Wal-Mart vs. Target, “The company also recycles 70% of all solid waste materials." Author Tiffany Hsu stated, “Wal-Mart installed fuel cells that provide half of the electricity to the 222,876-square-foot store. To help keep the scorching sun at bay and cool the building naturally, it has painted the roof white” (Los Angeles). But both two competitors say going green save’s them money and at the same time help’s save the environment. Wal-Mart and Target are the top two competitive stores in America. Their variety of a store and saving middle class families money is continuing to work today. However, their low prices, sales, and protecting the Earth continue to go head to head for the best in the market. Giving that these two stores are different, but also similar in many ways confuses some people of which store better fits their needs. In conclusion, living in the United States you will always have many stores to go shopping at, and it’s in your hands to figure out which one fits you best.
