B. J. Crain Chief Business Officer The Texas A&M University System B. J. Crain is Chief Business Officer for The Texas A&M University System. As such, she is responsible for systemwide financial accounting and reporting oversight; the direction of tax and fiscal activities; the direction of the financial activities/functions related to the legislative appropriations process; the direction of the annual operating budget process and management information analysis and reporting activities; Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) initiatives; the operational direction for System Aircraft; and related policy development and interpretation. She is also responsible for the System Office's budget, business, payroll, and procurement services. Prior to becoming the Chief Business Officer, Ms. Crain served the Texas A&M System as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Budgets and Accounting, the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Budgets and Accounting, the Director of Budgets, and the Assistant Director of Budgets. She was also the Contracts and Budgets Manager as well as the Senior Accountant and Federal Fiscal Officer for the Texas Agricultural Extension Service. She began her career as an accountant with Ken Havis, CPA. Ms. Crain is a graduate of the Governor’s Executive Development Program, Class XXIV, through the LBJ School of Public Affairs, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) from Texas A&M University.
