Naomi Strauss
NFTY-PAR Programming Vice President Candidate
Dear NFTY-PAR,
My name is Naomi Strauss and it is a great honor for me to declare my intention to run
for the position of Programming Vice President 5777–5778. NFTY-PAR has been an integral
part of my high school career for the past 3 years. The community of friendships and mentors has
been invaluable to me in so many ways. NFTY-PAR has enabled me to develop lifelong skills
and taught me important life lessons. I am very grateful for this. I know I will carry these skills
and lessons with me always. I now want to give back to this wonderful community by putting
these abilities to work with my commitment and enthusiasm for programming.
My experience on the JYK committee, collaboration with the SHAFTY PVP, and
participation at many NFTY events has inspired a passion for program writing. I believe I am not
only qualified to carry out the responsibilities of a PAR regional board member but to offer new
ideas and see them through.
Programs are a very important aspect of NFTY-PAR. Programs help to make memorable
events. Every event should be designed to have a lasting impact on our lives that helps us grow
as individuals in a meaningful way. This could be meeting a new friend during a program,
developing skills to work through challenging situations we are confronted with in our everyday
lives, or discovering more ways to repair the world through community service.
In order to strengthen our community, it is important to get ideas about programming
from NFTY participants. As regional PVP, my goal is to create a new and accessible program
bank. This bank would serve as a resource for other TYG’s by allowing them to submit programs
they have written. Over time, the bank would grow with programming ideas to be accessed,
shared, and refined by other TYG’s.
Another way to get input from participants is to create a google form for every event.
Participants would be able to submit suggestions for program themes. This way participants
would feel included and excited for future programs and this would ensure that local participants
have an impact on regional events. This system would help promote regional events while
incorporating participant’s ideas. I believe that engaging other participants in this way will help
create a stronger program and more enthusiasm. Using this google form system will encourage
participants to feel included without being on PVP network or group leading committee.
I want to be available to all TYG PVP’s and help them with any assistance they may
need. I am committed to supporting each TYG PVP and to help them create their vision when
writing programs. Being a part of regional board will allow me to collaborate with PVP network
and be available to them as needed.
If you elect me as your Program Vice President for the year of 5777-5778 I promise to
strengthen the impact of our programs in NFTY-PAR through collaboration, hard work and
commitment. I believe that programs are what make events effective, special and memorable. I
am devoted to increasing participation while writing strong programs. Thank you for giving me
the opportunity to run for your 5777-5778 Programming Vice President.
