Parliamentary Committees Series 17/2016 Public Hearings on Pan-African Minerals University Bill 14 May and Minerals Exploration & Marketing Corp Bill BILL WATCH PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES SERIES 17/2016 [14th May 2016] Programme of Public Hearings on Pan-African Minerals University of Science and Technology Bill and Minerals Exploration and Marketing Corporation Bill Monday 16th May to Friday 20th May The Portfolio Committees on Mines and Energy and Higher Education, Science and Technology will be holding joint public hearings on the above two Bills from Monday 16th May to Friday 20th May. Committee members will divide into two teams for the hearings outside Harare— Team A will hold hearings in Hwange, Bulawayo, Gwanda, Zvishavane, Masvingo, Bikita and Mutare Team B will hold hearings in Gweru, Kwekwe, Kadoma, Chinhoyi, Mutoko and Bindura. The teams will then join up for the final hearing in Harare on the afternoon of Friday 20th May. Stakeholders, interested groups, organisations and all members of the public are welcome to attend the hearings, at which they will be given the opportunity to make representations. Please note that for the final hearing in Harare ID will be needed for admission to Parliament building, and that the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue entrance to Parliament must be used. The committees will be reporting back to their respective Houses, so the hearings provide an opportunity for members of the public to convey what they think of the Bills to all members of Parliament. If you want to make oral representations at a hearing, signify this to the committee clerk before the hearing, if possible, so that she or he can notify the chairperson to call on you. An oral representation is more effective if followed up in writing. If you are providing a written copy, it is advisable to take as many copies as possible with you for circulation at the hearing.
