GUIDELINES FOR ATU PRACTICAL SESSION ONE MODULE 2 The following guidelines are to help you prepare for your first practical session, where you will be working with a guinea pig, and can also be used alongside the checklist for this session session. BEFORE YOUR SESSION Before your practical task, you should ensure that you have studied all of the Module Two theory relating to test administration and scoring as well as the video (a sample test administration). A template for your personal test introduction can be found in Module Two ATU Factsheet 8. The Module Two ATU Test Administration Briefing Notes page contains links to enable you to print out your Verbal test materials. PRINTING YOUR TEST MATERIALS Using your Module ATU Test Administration Briefing Notes, please print out the Verbal Test Materials as instructed below. The duration of this practice session should be around 30 minutes, including review time. Before your guinea pig arrives, you are required to set the room up on webcam. We need to see that you have laid out the room correctly; have the materials required; and recorded this on your Test Log Sheet. You will then formally start the session by introducing the test process to your guinea pig (you can use the template provided in Factsheet 8). After your introduction is complete and you have your guinea pig’s informed consent to proceed, you should distribute the Verbal test materials to him/her (the candidate test booklet and answer sheet). You will then administer the test to guinea pig, using the scripted instructions in your administration booklet (guinea pig will be following the same instructions in his/her test booklet), allowing him/her time to complete some practice questions. You will then start the test, using the BEGIN instruction given in your administration booklet. After EXACTLY 8 minutes, you will STOP the test. Collect in all materials and thank guinea pig. Guinea pig will be asked to give you a little feedback on how the session felt for them and should then leave. You will now score the test answer sheet using the scoring key that you printed off. Next, you will norm the result by referring to the PERCENTILE Norm Table and the T-Score Norm Table in the Practica Verbal Test Administration and Scoring Booklet. Now, record the scores on the Test Record Sheet, and put all materials away securely. END OF SESSION
