Energy
What is Renewable
Energy?
• Energy generated from natural
resources such as sunlight, wind,
rain, tides, and geothermal heat,
which are naturally replenished.
Solar Energy
• Solar technologies use the sun's energy to
provide heat, light, hot water, electricity,
and even cooling, for homes, businesses,
and industry.
Solar Photovoltaic Technology
• Photovoltaic (PV) cells convert sunlight
directly into electricity. PV gets its name
from the process of converting light
(photons) to electricity (voltage), which is
called the PV effect.

• Solar panels used to power homes and
businesses are typically made from solar cells
combined into modules that hold about 40 cells.
A typical home- 10 to 20 solar panels
• Fixed Panels-South
• Tracking Device
• Solar array.
Wind Energy
• Wind is a clean, inexhaustible, indigenous
energy resource that can generate enough
electricity to power millions of homes and
businesses. Wind energy is one of the
fastest-growing forms of electricity
generation in the world.
• A wind turbine works the opposite of a fan.
Instead of using electricity to make wind,
like a fan, wind turbines use wind to make
electricity.

Geothermal Energy
• Geothermal energy taps the heat that lies
beneath the earth's surface
• Many technologies have been developed
to take advantage of geothermal energy—
the heat from the earth. This heat can be
drawn from several sources: hot water or
steam reservoirs deep in the earth that are
accessed by drilling
• A utility can use the hot water and steam
from reservoirs to drive generators and
produce electricity for its customers.

Support Renewable Energy
• Helping secure a clean energy future for
the nation and the world isn't just about
reducing energy usage or producing clean
energy. It is about how energy moves from
the power source to the end user - using
our energy most effectively and wisely.
