DRILLING FLUID PRODUCTS - STEARIC ACID
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Stearic acid is used in drilling fluids as a viscosifier and defoamer. It is a type of organic acid
derived from animal and vegetable fats and oils. Fatty acids are the raw materials used in the
manufacture of many drilling-fluid additives, such as emulsifiers, oil-wetting agents and
lubricants.
RECOMMENDED TREATMENT
Application rates will vary. Apply as needed until desired viscosity is reached. For defoaming
applications, treat system as needed to reduce foaming of fluids.
PRODUCT ADVANTAGES
● Non-Toxic drilling additive.
● Multi-Functional additive.
