Project
Task:
You will be writing a detailed, one page letter that will be addressed to Alberta’s
Premier: Rachel Notley as well as West Yellowhead’s Member of Parliament: Jim
Eglinski. The content of the letter will include a detailed plan proposing that
Grande Cache and area make the switch from fossil fuels to another energy source
of your choosing. You can suggest a switch to any energy source covered in class:
Solar, Hydroelectric, Wind, Geothermal, or Nuclear, or you can choose to argue
that Grande Cache and area must remain using fossil fuels.
Required Information
Through research, you must include information on:
 The pros and cons of switching energy sources
 Required infrastructure to generate energy as well as transport it
 A transition plan from fossil fuels to a new energy source
 Job creation during set up and operation
Letters that are well written with realistic and manageable proposals will be sent
to the offices of Rachel Notley and Jim Eglinski.
