Retail Assistant
Part Time and some Full Time
 Tuesday and Thursday 2 – 6pm
 Saturday 10am – 6pm
 Tuesday thru Saturday 10am – 6pm when needed. (May be without notice)
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
 Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs.
 Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, coupons, paying out customers, and
balancing cash drawers.
 Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security
practices.
 Compute sales prices, total purchases and receive and process cash or credit payment.
 Maintain records related to sales.
 Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
 Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
 Answer questions regarding the store policies and its merchandise.
 Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
 Ticket, arrange, organize and display merchandise to promote sales.
 Prepare consignor contracts.
 Place special orders or call other stores to find desired items.
 Demonstrate use or operation of merchandise.
 Clean items for sale, shelves, counters, tables, bathrooms and floors.
 Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returns, apply store credit.
 Bag or package purchases.
 Prepare merchandise for purchase or rental.
 Apply chemical sterilization to required items, while wearing required personal protective equipment.
 Able to stand for long periods of time and often required to lift heavy objects
Required Qualifications
 High school diploma or equivalent preferred
 Knowledge of customer service principles and processes
 Knowledge of sales principles
 Relevant product knowledge
 Experience in a retail, customer service or sales environment
 Basic business administration knowledge
 Possess strong oral and written communication skills
 Familiarity with Microsoft Windows-based applications
 Keyboarding experience with a typing speed of minimum 35 WPM
 Navigation of the internet and the ability to work and type accurately during Customer calls
 Fluent written and verbal communication is preferred (English)
 Accept direct deposit for pay
