Poisoning of Dogs





Strychnine poison was periodically spread around the
city killing over 10,000 dogs each year.
This is a horrific way to die.
It is dangerous for the environment as well as for
people and their pets.
Piles of decomposed carcasses are dumped into rivers
leading to foul life-threatening water pollution.
But the city has agreed to stop poisoning dogs in
the areas where KAT works.
And the puppies…
All puppies from nursing females are
also brought to the Centre
… are brought in too!!
The puppies stay with their mothers.
Operation Theatre
All dogs receive an identifying ear notch.
Mature dogs get a red collar.
The Results
Since it opened in 2004, the KAT Centre has
sterilized and vaccinated over 14,000 street dogs.
More than 4,000 of these dogs were injured or
sick and were rescued by KAT.
