Available in English and Spanish Obtain Quick Severity Ratings for Five Cognitive Domains with CLQT Developed for use by SLPs, OTs, and Psychologists Leading neurobehavior researcher and author, Nancy Helm-Estabrooks, Sc.D., CCC-SLP, has designed the criterion-referenced Cognitive Linguistic Quick Test (CLQT) to assist you in quickly assessing strengths and weaknesses in five cognitive domains (Attention, Memory, Executive Functions, Language, and Visuospatial Skills). CLQT is for use with adults ages 18-89 with known or suspected neurological dysfunction. It was field-tested by SLPs, OTs, and psychologists working with clients in medical and home healthcare settings, acute rehabilitation facilities, outpatient clinics, and nursing homes, and can be administered in just 15 to 30 minutes. Ten Tasks Help Identify Pattern of Cognitive Strengths and Weaknesses CLQT provides a brief and insightful measure of the status of an individual’s cognitive-linguistic functioning. CLQT’s ten tasks, five of which have minimal language demands, tap specific cognitive skills within a short time period and with relatively simple administration and scoring procedures. The Record Form is also available in Spanish. The Ten Task Contributing to the Severity Ratings are: Cut Scores Determine Severity Ratings CLQT criterion cut scores (Within Normal Limits, Mild, Moderate, and Severe) were established for each cognitive domain based on the author’s expertise informed by non-clinical and clinical subjects representative of different ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and educational backgrounds. The score for each task, except Clock Drawing, contributes to the severity rating for one or more of the five cognitive domains. A Total Composite Severity Rating for each age group (18-69, 70-89) is derived from the severity ratings for each of the five cognitive domains. A separate severity rating is obtained for the Clock Drawing task for each age group. The Clock Drawing rating can serve as a quick monitor of progress or decline. CLQT Helps You Plan Next Steps Use CLQT results to identify areas for direct treatment or everyday management of impaired skills, identify the need for more in-depth testing, or help determine a differential diagnosis. The manual contains Identify areas for direct treatment or everyday management of impaired skills. recommendations for further assessment and gives remediation suggestions based on CLQT results. The Story Retelling task helps you to assess the examinee’s working memory for facts embedded in a story narrative and to assess auditory processing and verbal production skills. The Design Generation task helps you to assess the examinee’s executive skills of productivity and creativity, the ability to vary responses rapidly, to self-monitor, to remember and follow rules, and to develop and use effective strategies, placing minimal demands on the examinee’s language skills. CLQT can be administered in just 15 to 30 minutes. In developing the CLQT Record Form, author Nancy Helm-Estabrooks included Clinician’s Notes which provide information and suggestions to assist you in administering and interpreting the tasks. CLQT is field-tested by SLPs, OTs, and psychologists.
