Week 7 : Liver / Gallbladder
Treating down the Gallbladder: Head/Neck
Begin in the shoulder rotation
position to prepare for head/neck
treatment of the Gallbladder
meridian.
GB 1 - Just outside of the eye socket
GB 2 - Just below SI 19, below the tragus between
the bones.
17
18
GB 3 - Just above the zygomatic arch
(cheekbone), about level with GB 1
16
GB 4-7 - Each one is a fingerwidth away from the
other, following a line that bulges when you chew.
15
13 4
14
3
GB 7 is level with the top and front of the ear.
5
8 9
GB 8 Right above the highest point of the ear (ear
auricle apex). GB 9 is 1 cun behind it.

GB 9-12 are just outside the mastoid process (the
bone that surrounds the ear. They are evenly
spaced from one another.
20
12
GB 12 is under the mastoid process, on the SCM
muscle.
GB 13: just above the hairline, level with the
outside corner of the eye
GB 21
GB 14: In the first forehead crease, directly above
the pupil.
GB 15-20 are on a continuous line running
posterior from GB 14. 15 is just above the hairline,
16-18 are each 1.5 cun posterior of the previous
point.
GB 19 is level with the occipital protuberance
inferior edge
GB 20 is at the occiput the hollow between the
trapezius and SCM muscles.
Keep your inside hand at the shoulder as mother hand.
Messenger thumb will hold each point in turn. While holding
messenger as a wedge to keep the head & neck expanded,
alternately compress and stretch the shoulder.
GB 21 - Well in the Shoulder - halfway between

Gallbladder Meridian - Decisions / Distribution
GB 22-23 - In the 4th intercostal space (in between the same ribs as the nipple). Just below the armpit. GB 22 is directly
below the armpit center. GB 23 is 1 cun in front of it.
GB 24 - In the 7th intercostal space, vertically directly below the nipple. If you begin in the hara below the nipple and trace
up onto the ribcage, the 7th intercostal is the first rib space you encounter.
GB 25 - At the tip of the 12th rib.
GB 26 - Vertically superior to the ASIS (tip of hip bone), level with the navel.
GB 27-28 - These points are just above the hip. GB 27 is directly above the ASIS. GB 27 follows the hip line inwards 1 cun
GB 29 - Halfway between the ASIS and the greater trochanter of the femur, on the tensor fascia latae (TFL) muscle.
GB 30 - Jumping Pivot - large indentation in hip joint, center of buttock. Or, 1/3 of the distance from the greater trochanter
to the tip of the tailbone.
Page 5
GB 22-23 are pictured above.
GB 24: 7th intercostal, the first rib space you reach
coming up from the hara on the vertical nipple line.
GB 25: Tip of the 12th rib
GB 26: Vertically superior to the ASIS, level with the
navel.
Stretching GB 29/30 and whole side of torso. Hold
the palm at GB 29/30 and hold GB 22/23 with the
other hand. Elongate the ribcage, think about how
they can expand all the way to their spine. Their
spine should lengthen and rib spaces expand.

Gallbladder Meridian - Decisions / Distribution
GB 30 - Jumping Pivot - large indentation in hip joint, center of buttock. Or, 1/3 of the distance from the greater trochanter
to the tip of the tailbone.
GB 31 - Market of Wind - On the midline of the lateral aspect of the thigh. When patient is standing erect with hands at
sides, the point is at the tip of the middle finger.
GB 32 - 2 cun distal to GB 31
GB 33 - just posterior to the lateral epicondyle of the femur, between the epicondyle and the biceps femoris tendon.

Move to front of receiver. Mother
hand thumb holds in the front of the
body to stabilize, at GB 27 (next to
the ASIS)
Treating down towards GB 33. Following the midline of the outside of the leg, through the IT
band.
Once you finish this, reposition to treat the lower leg.

Gallbladder Meridian - Decisions / Distribution
GB 34 - Yang Mound Spring- Just below knee, on side of leg, in front of the head of the fibula (sidemost leg bone)
GB 35 - 7 cun proximal to lateral malleolus peak, posterior to fibula
GB 36 - 7 cun proximal to lateral malleolus peak, anterior to fibula
GB 37 - 5 cun proximal to lateral malleolus peak, anterior to fibula
GB 38 - 4 cun proximal to lateral malleolus peak, anterior to fibula
GB 39 - 3 cun proximal to lateral malleolus peak, posterior to fibula
GB 40 - level with the inferior and anterior (bottom and front) edges of the malleolus
GB 41 - where the 4th and 5th metatarsals come together
GB 42-43 - in between the 4th and 5th toe, along the 4th toe, on either side of the metatarsophalangeal joint of the 4th
toe.
GB 44 - At the lateral corner of the 4th toe nail.

Liver Meridian - Planning / Freeflow of Ki
LV 1 - Directly beneath the center of the big toe nail. LV 2 - against the big toe, just in the webbing
LV 3 - Great Rushing - At the junction of the 1st and 2nd metatarsals, angled against the 1st metatarsal
LV 4 - Middle Seal - At the ankle joint, level with the medial malleolus tip, just medial to the tibialis anterior tendon (big
tendon felt when foot is flexed)
LV 5-6 - On the tibia, 5 cun and 7 cun up from the medial malleolus, respectively
LV 7 - On the gastrocnemius (calf), in a vertical slit found about halfway back on the side of the calf.
LV 8 - Just posterior to the femur medial epycondyle.
LV 9 - 4 cun above the patella (kneecap), anterior to sartorius muscle
LV 10-12 - LV 12 is just below the inguinal ligament in the groin. Lv 11 and 10 are each 1 cun distal, anterior to adductor
longus, on the pectineus muscle, almost following the usual inseam of the pants.
LV 13 - Distinguished Gate - (not pictured), at the tip of the 11th rib
LV 14 - Gate of the Cycle - (not pictured), Directly below the nipple, in the 6th intercostal space, two rib spaces below the
nipple.

behind the round swell of the femur epicondyle.

muscle, in a vertical slit. Continue along tibia
shaft, dip down through SP6, go in front of
ankle bone (medial malleolous…
Here the messenger thumb goes in between
the 1st and 2nd toes at LV 3. Continue on to
