Taurus (The Bull) This is the third and last book of the zodiac. First Book – Suffering Savior and the coming Christ. Second Book – Lamb/Ram and the story of the Church. Third Book – Consummation of all things: of the coming Christ, judgment, eternal salvation, fiery destruction of the wicked. Taurus (The Bull) Taurus – The Bull - is a great beast his head lowered and his horns pointing forward. He is charging and bringing destruction to anything that is in his way. It is a picture of Christ bringing destruction to the wicked in His judgment. We only see the front half of the bull and he seems to be coming out of Aries – The Lamb/or Ram. We see the Lamb giving rise to the Bull that comes forth in judgment. The main star in Taurus is Al Debaran located in the eye of the Bull which means in Arabic, “The Captain”, “The Leader” or “The Governor”. On the Star Chart Taurus is at the 12 o’clock position while Scorpio is at the 6 o’clock position. Taurus is a type of Christ and Scorpio is a type of Satan. When Taurus rises Scorpio falls below the horizon. When Jesus comes again then Satan will descend into the bottomless pit. Isaiah 34:7 – And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood and their dust made fat with fatness. The term here for unicorn is rehame. It was an unknown creature so it was translated as unicorn and is used in several places in scripture. However, in recent times, according to James Kennedy, it has been discovered that it was a wild ox that is now extinct. This creature was almost as large as an elephant and extremely dangerous. It was untamable and quick to attack men if given the opportunity. This is a picture of the Bull we see here. It is believed to have been around during Julius Caesar’s time as he describes it being hunted in his day. Remnants have been discovered in Palestine. Job 39:9-10 – Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? Or will he harrow the valleys after thee?” This creature was untamable. It is the picture of what Jesus will be when he returns in the last days of judgment. Although they are not really part of this constellation, Pleiades – The Seven Sisters, ride on the shoulder of the bull. It could be considered to be a type of the church being carried away safely to heaven by Christ. Orion – The Glorious One First Decan This constellation is one of the easiest to identify in the sky. It is large and impressive. Orion means – “The Brilliant”, “The Swift”, or “He Who Cometh Forth as Light.” In Hebrew the word is Chesil which means “A Strong One” or “A Hero”. Orion is a mighty hunter with a club in his right hand and the skin of a lion in his left hand. Satan is described as a lion who prowls about seeking whom he may devour. This constellation is mentioned 3 times in scripture: twice in Job and once in Amos. In the belt of Orion is a sword. The handle of the sword has the head of a lamb on it. Jesus was the lamb who was slain. One of the most magnificent stars in the sky is located in the right shoulder of Orion. It is Betelgeuse. It is an enormous red giant. It is 700 million miles in diameter. Earth is 8,000 miles in diameter. If Betelgeuse were located where our sun is located it would encompass our entire orbit around the sun and beyond. Bellatrix is in his other shoulder and means, “Quickly Coming”, or “Swiftly Destroying”. Another star is located in the foot of Orion and is called Rigel. It means, “The Foot That Crusheth”. The three stars in the belt of Orion are called “The Three Kings” Eridanus – The River Second Decan Eridanus – The River of the Judge – This is pictured as a fiery river that flows out of the foot of Orion and flows past Cetus – The Sea-monster and flows into outer darkness. Daniel 7:9-10 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame and his wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. Psalm 97:1-3 The Lord reigneth: let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.” Nahum 1:6 – Who can stand before his indignation? And who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. This constellation is a picture of the judgment. It first flows to Cetus – The Sea-Monster. This is a picture of Satan being destroyed and then it flows into outer darkness which is a picture of the final judgment. II Thessalonians 1:7b-8 The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Auriga – The Shepherd Third Decan Auriga – The Shepherd is seated on the Milky Way. He holds a band in his right hand similar to the band that connected Pisces – The Fishes. The band is no longer connected here. He holds a lamb in his left arm and there are 2 new-born baby goats seated in his lap. The she-lamb has her two paws on the shoulder and neck of Auriga. This is a picture of the Good Shepherd collecting both the adults and children into his arms. Isaiah 40:10-11 Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. In the most ancient zodiac, he does not hold the bands, but a scepter that is shaped like a cross. This ancient zodiac was made even before Christ was born. Gemini – The Twins Paul refers to this constellation in Acts 28:11, “And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.” When Paul left Melita on a ship from Alexandria he made reference to this constellation of the twins who are known in Latin as Castor and Pollux. The two bright stars that are located in the heads are easily visible. Gemini – The Twins are two youthful figures seated side by side. The one on the left has a club in his hand, but it is not in a warlike pose. The one on the right holds a bow and arrow in one hand and a harp in the other hand. They are both at rest. They were warriors or hunters, but they are now seated and at rest. The original Hebrew name for this constellation was Thaumin - The United. They show the two natures of Christ. He was both divine and human. He was Prince and Ruler, Savior and Sufferer. The star on the right is Castor and means “The Ruler” or “The Judge”. The star on the left is Pollux and means “The Strong One Coming to Labor or Suffer” One star represents the Christ who came to suffer and the other Star represents the Christ who is coming to Rule and Judge. Another star in Pollux is Al Henah which means “The Hurt” or “Afflicted”. The next brightest star in Castor is Mebsuta which means “Treading Underfoot”. Last is a star in the waist of Castor called Wasat and means “Set”. Their work is done and now they are seated. Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. Lepus – The Enemy First Decan Lepus – The Enemy – In modern zodiacs this is a picture of a rabbit or hare. But in ancient zodiacs it is a picture of a serpent. Orion – The Glorious One has his foot on Lepus – The Enemy. Stars in the constellation verify the meaning of who it is. The brightest star is Arnebo meaning “The Enemy of Him That Cometh”. Other stars in this constellation are: Nibal – The Mad; Surgia – The Deceiver; Rakis – The Bound (the Arabic meaning is “Bound as with a chain”) Revelation 20:1 – 2 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years. This is certainly a picture of Satan being bound in the last days. Canis Major – The Prince Second Decan This decan has also been distorted by modern zodiacs. In the most ancient Egyptian zodiac it was known as Apes which means “The Head”. It is pictured as a hawk which is the natural enemy of the serpent. One star is Naz which means “Caused to Come Forth” or “Coming Swiftly Down”. The brightest star in this constellation is Sirius which means Prince. Isaiah 9:6b – His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Canis Minor – The Redeemer Third Decan This decan has also been distorted by modern zodiacs. Ancient zodiacs depict this constellation as a human figure with the head of a hawk. It was called Sebak. The brightest star in this constellation is Procyon which means “The Redeemer”. These two figures are similar to Gemini in that one is The Prince and the other is The Redeemer. We see the two natures of Christ as the one who came to earth and the one who will come to earth again to rule and reign. The second brightest star in this constellation is Al Gomeisa which means “Burdened”, “Loaded”, or “Bearing for Others”. Another star in this decan is Al Shemeliya which means “Prince” or “Chief of the Left Hand”. We have the Prince of the Right Hand which is Canis Major and the Prince of the Left Hand which is Canis Minor.
