The Mouse Pad Ms. Devine’s Periodical Newsletter November 17, 2014 Volume 1 Issue 3 Globaloria Game Design (Digital Imaging 2) Digital Imaging 1 (Periods 2 and 3) After a brief break last week to engage in “A Very Grafton Christmas” Card Design Competition, the game designers in Digital Imaging 2 are now completing their first games using Flash and ActionScript 3.0. Each individual received hands-on game design experience while learning about game ingredients, coding, and design tools. Many of us are new to coding and it has been a very challenging and rewarding experience to see our codes and drawings work together! After Thanksgiving break we will be beginning our first Action games, and spending a couple of weeks researching and investigating educational content to incorporate into the games. The Digital Imaging 1 students have been using their skills in Photoshop to complete several projects. First, our students competed in a Photoshop Creative Manipulations competition, and I am proud to announce our winners! After school on Monday, November 17, students will celebrate American Enterprise Day by going to Anna Jarvis Elementary School to present a board game they created to students in Project Isaac. The game, called “Lemon Squirts”, is played on a game board and teaches the concepts of designing a business, entering into the market, competing for customers within a market, and sales. The group is then going across the street to tour Preston-Taylor Community Health Centers. Tuesday, November 18th from 3:30-5:00 FBLA is hosting a Smash Brothers Melee Tournament in TC8. Devine Enterprises As the school year progresses, completers in Information Management are having more Simulated Workplace experiences throughout the courses themselves. An example of this is the Christmas Card project, where the winners of the competition will be compensated and signing a contract for the piece-work as they would in the “real-world” workplace. The artist whose designs are chosen will be credited on the cards as they are printed. For more information on Devine Enterprises activities, read each course update featured on the front of this issue of The Mouse Pad.
