Location: Grenoble, France
Context. Scale-FreeBack is an ERC Advanced Grant 2015 awarded to Carlos Canudas-de-Wit, Director of
Research at the CNRS, during Sept. 2016-2021. The ERC is hosted by the CNRS. The project will be conducted
within the NeCS group (which is a joint CNRS (GIPSA-lab)-INRIA team). The project will contribute to the
training of several PhDs and post-doc students and one research engineer. The projects envision organizing
specific workshops/conferences, and an international visiting program.
Job description: We are looking for a team player to fill the position of Project Assistant (PA). The PA assists
in the planning and implementation of duties related to coordinating, organizing, reporting and implementing
the ERC Scale-FreeBack. The main objective of the Project Assistant position is to help the Principal investigator
(PI) to manage the ERC and follow administrative and financial regulations. The duties require analytical,
evaluative and interpretive skills. The specific tasks that the PA will be involved are:





Recruitment. Positions advertising, interviews organization links with the GIPSA/CNRS HR department.
Recruitment interviews will be done together with the PI and other necessary personal.
Events organization. Coordinate and organize meetings, conferences, trainings and other project-related
events, and prepare the necessary materials, including reports, presentations, agendas and minutes.
Financial & PM reporting. Follow up of the expenses, budget and time sheets. Preparation of the financial
balance (every 18M), and the PM resources utilization reports (monthly).
Publicity. Web page maintenance, promoting the ERC results, follows up the scientific publications.
Coordination with the local services. Acts as a liaison between the PI and the various services (financial,
Human resources, etc.) at GIPSA-Lab and the CNRS when necessary.
Requirements:
 A degree and/or comparable experience within the areas of project management and administration
 Knowledge and/or experience of the EU’s research programs
 Experience in event management
 A native/near-native command of French (spoken and written). Fluently English is highly desirable
 Good communication skills – written and verbal
 Good ICT skills (MS Office, Web languages if possible, etc.)
 Good planning skills and ability to respect deadlines
 Ability to work individually and in a team
The Project Assistant will be a well-organized and hard-working team player, able to work flexibly in a
multicultural environment and with tight deadlines, willing to travel occasionally to cover project related
events.
Terms of contract:
• One year, with possibility to renew up to the end of the project.
• Based in Grenoble, occasional travel
• Salary: as a function of degree and experience based on the CNRS salaries contractual costs.
