Laboratory Manual For Principles of Biology (BY 14), Suffolk County Community College, 2010. You will also need 4 Scantron sheets for the semester. No make-ups. No late work will be accepted. No exceptions! It is critically important that you pay attention to dates. Exams (both lecture and lab) will be completed in class. Grading Policy Grades are calculated as follows. Exam I 60% Exam II Exam III Cumulative Final Lab Practical 25% 15% The following scale applies: A=90-100% B=80-89% C=70-79% D=60-69% F=59% or below Attendance Policy All students are required to attend lab. If you miss a week’s worth of labs (3), you will be dropped from the class. Students are responsible for all that takes place in class. 1 Do not disappear from this course. You must officially withdraw by going to the registrar’s office or else you will receive an F. Classroom etiquette: You are expected to behave in a manner that conveys respect for your classmates and your instructor. Please refrain from causing disruption and distraction in the classroom. You are expected to arrive on time! If you must come to class late, please be as quiet as possible. Keep in mind that you may miss important announcements made at the beginning of class. Try to minimize leaving the classroom during lab activities. You are not allowed to use cell phones or any other technology during class. After one warning, you will be given a 10% penalty on your next exam for each violation of this rule. If you fail to adhere to any of these guidelines, you may be asked to leave the classroom. Reading Assignments: You are expected to come to each lab prepared. This means that the reading assignment corresponding to each week’s lab must be completed prior to that lab. Lab schedule: You are required to attend lab from 10:45-12:45 every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (see dates below). Exam dates are subject to change.
