Dear Fellow Energy Technology Enthusiast:
Each year, Missoula becomes increasingly energy conscious. We designate
new bike lanes, create incentives to recycle, and to use sustainable energy. Our
community supports a renewable energy culture for many reasons. Among them
are national energy security, clean air, and sustainable communities.
In 2012, The University of Montana joined other like-minded universities
from around the world to compete in both the Shell Ecomarathon, and the
American Society of Mechanical Engineering Human Powered Vehicle Challenge
which were held in Houston, Texas, and Tooele, Utah. While we weren’t on the
podium, were extremely competitive against teams with much larger budgets.
This year our team is again building vehicles to compete against hundreds of
teams from around the world. Races will be held in Houston and NASA Ames in
April 2013. While the scope of these challenges are broad, for our team it is
important to show our community the versatility of sustainable energy sources for
local transportation. Our goal is to raise $10,000 - $20,000 to fund both of these
projects and we hope that you or your company will help us with a monetary
donation, or an in-kind donation such as components or other supplies. Donations
may also be made online at https://umcot.kimbia.com/ShellEcoMarathon or
