Physical Fitness (wellness) and the Cadet Handbook
In addition to the President’s Physical Fitness program (2X each academic year), the
state-mandated Fitnessgram, and fitness competitions, our JROTC unit focuses on
overall wellness of the cadet group. We provide practical nutritional guidance balanced
with a focus on physical fitness activities such as push-ups, crunches, pull-ups, lunges,
running, other cardio exercises, and various fitness activities. The objective is to
promote an overall healthy lifestyle. Each Friday is devoted to physical fitness;
therefore, appropriate clothing should be brought for exercise on that day.
The cadet handbook covers nearly everything a cadet should know regarding military
customs, courtesies, wear of the Air Force JROTC uniform, daily classroom routine, and
decorum. The objective in covering cadet handbook material in class is for each cadet
to be confident in demonstrating excellence in uniform wear, customs, courtesies, and
to apply productive citizenship behavior in and out of the classroom.
Uniform Day
Every Wednesday is uniform day. Cadets unexpectedly missing uniform day *must*
make it up on Thursday. Each cadet must wear an Air Force JROTC approved uniform
combination on uniform day. Noncompliance is not only devastating to the cadet’s
grade but is also cause for disenrollment. Details on wearing the uniform may be found
in the TX-946 Cadet Handbook. Uniform grading standards are listed below under,
“Grading Procedure.”
