Baystate Health is the largest integrated health care delivery network in western Massachusetts. It provides
comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care throughout the region.
The system and processes were designed to support not only the projects but also the work and maintenance efforts
managed within Baystate Health Information Services. Our ultimate goal was to collect data to allow us to "paint" a
complete picture of our portfolio of efforts.

David Rice works as a Project Manager for an Information Services PMO. Mr. Rice has over 10 years of Healthcare IT
project management experience. His experience includes working for vendors (Eclipsys), consulting (E&Y), and
Integrated Delivery Networks (Baystate Health). Clients of Mr. Rice have included some of the largest medical centers /
organizations in the north east (Partners, Boston Medical Center, Yale, and St. Francis Medical Center).
 “ITIL – What is it and why should I care?” by Thorsten Manthey, KPMG LLP
This is an introduction to the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practice framework and its history and future possible
path. The presentation will explain the 10 core operational ITIL v2 processes and the Service Desk Function and also
evolve into the newly released ITIL version 3 and the 5 new ITIL books describing the IT Service Lifecycle approach in a
more strategic and business alignment approach.
The presentation will identify benefits of ITIL and IT Service Management as well as why this framework has gained
extensive CIO focus over the last few years within North America .
In addition the presentation will give a brief mapping of ITIL with other existing frameworks and standards e.g. COBIT,
ISO20000 and ISO27001.
After the presentation the participant will have a general understanding of what ITIL is (both ITIL v2 and ITIL v3), where it
originated and why companies are embracing this best practice.
Benefits of implementing ITIL as well as linkage to other existing well established frameworks will also be covered.
Thorsten Manthey is a Manager in KPMG’s IT Advisory Service Practice in Boston. He has over 15 years of international
management experience in the telecom, oils & gas and financial services industry.
He has an IT Service Manager certification “ITIL Master” and a practitioner certification “How to Implement ITIL:
Integrating People & Tools with Processes”.
Mr. Manthey has been successful in helping companies defining and executing IT Service Management (ITSM) programs,
process improvements & assessments, organizational and cultural change management initiatives, ITSM tool evaluations
and project implementations, Sarbanes-Oxley initiatives and implementing process governance structures within large
matrix organizations.
He is an active member of the IT Service Management Forum (itSMF), which is an international not-for-profit organization
for IT Service management professionals. He was one of the founding board members of the Southern Alberta branch in
Canada, established in 2005. There he helped plan and execute the itSMF Canadian National conference in 2007.
He holds a Masters of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in
Sweden and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
 "Project Management Tools in Healthcare Informatics" by Colleen V. Rougeaux, PMP, Partners Healthcare
This session will pair project management tools with the five phases of project management, as well as, touch on methods
used to organize all of the documents from a given project in one place. These tools serve as the basic outline for
implementing a software system in a healthcare setting

Colleen V. Rougeaux, PMP, works as a Project Specialist at Partners Healthcare. She has ten years experience in
project management in the healthcare field, working with acute and non-acute sites all across the United States.
Ms. Rougeaux is currently attending New England College's Masters of Science in Management with a concentration in
Project Management.
 "Bridging the Gap – Preparing for Configuration Management” by Andrew Maxymillian, PMP, Blue Wing
Services
The goal of Configuration Management is to ensure all stakeholders have the information they need to make sure their
systems perform as intended. Configuration Management is a program designed to keep system data useful, complete,
accurate, secure, and readily available, thus improve the overall quality of system performance and management.
This session gives a Configuration Management overview, then how Configuration Management relates to a Project, and
its benefits.
Andy Maxymillian’s experience includes over twenty years in the communications industry. Andy has spent the last
several years as a senior consultant with Blue Wing Services, providing consulting and project management for various
public safety clients. Blue Wing’s services include design, system integration, deployment, and most recently, 800MHz
rebanding efforts for various large scale and multi-jurisdictional public safety radio networks. Professional affiliations
include the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO), the Radio Club of America, and the Project
Management Institute (PMI). Mr. Maxymillian is certified by PMI as a Project Management Professional (PMP). He is
also a Board member of PMI’s Information Technology & Telecommunications Specific Interest Group, serving as Vice
President of Operations.
