Notice should be given in writing. Teachers Notice of termination of appointment The appointment may be terminated on either side by notice or in writing given not later than the last day of term. The notice will expire at the end of the current terminal period. Temporary teachers in locally managed County schools have an entitlement to make representations and a right of appeal to governors in certain circumstances where it is proposed to terminate the contract before its natural end date. There are separate guidelines that may be adapted by schools for the consideration of such representations. Contact the Education and Culture Personnel Section for further information. If the performance of the teacher is viewed as unsatisfactory during the first 13 weeks of service, the Authority/School may terminate the engagement without notice. This provision does not, however, dispense with the need to allow teachers in locally managed County schools to make representations and have the right of appeal prior to the decision to terminate the contract being finalised.
