TEAM CONTACTS – Clinician Investigator Teams
Team/PIs Title of Research & Abstract Team 2: PIs: Isabelle Boucoiran [email protected] Ariane Godbout [email protected] Catherine Taillefer [email protected] Sandra Wavrant [email protected] Co‐Investigators: Francois Audibert [email protected] Anne Monique Nuyt address the following questions: 1) Assess the impact of NCD on preterm birth and maternal and neonatal health; 2) Identify risk factors for preterm birth and adverse pregnancy outcome in pregnancies complicated by NCD, 3) Identify knowledge gaps and variation in care of pregnancies complicated by NCD; and 4) Explore the ability of medical and educational interventions to improve maternal and neonatal outcome in pregnancies complicated by NCD. Montreal Emerging Research Team in Maternal Fetal Medicine (MeRe) Abstract: The CHU Sainte‐Justine Mother and Child University Hospital Center (CHUSJ) is the largest center for maternal fetal medicine (MFM) in Quebec. The department of obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) is the leader of the MFM division at Université de Montréal (UdeM). Building on these strengths and expertise, we wish to enhance the capacity of the hospitals of the UdeM network to offer help and hope to women and their future children, by improving health care services from conception to the neonatal period. Our overall objective is to develop an integrated research platform in order (1) to support the research projects of young MFM clinicians; (2) to bring together young MFM clinicians and local fundamental research teams to develop research programs that can be rapidly integrated in the clinic; and 3) to build local/national collaborations and partnerships to rapidly transfer the TEAM CONTACTS – Clinician Investigator Teams

The UdeM young MFM investigators will be supported by a team of mentors with complementary skills and collaborations, which will provide an optimal environment to put forward the originality and the potential impacts of the young MFM clinicians research programs, and help them becoming leaders in their fields. The activities, including clinical research and knowledge transfer to facilitate the bench‐to‐bedside translation of scientific discoveries, will lead to new prevention approaches, validation of clinical protocols that are more effective and less invasive, and improvement of physicians' training. Collaborative Obesity in Pregnancy Research Group: Supporting a Team to Investigate Placental Adaptations to Obesity Abstract: Canada, like most developed nations, is in the midst of an obesity epidemic: one in four adults is currently classified as obese, with this number expected to increase to one in three in the next two decades. In London Ontario, 45% of births are by overweight or obese mothers, posing significant management challenges for obstetrical providers. Pregnant women with obesity have a 2 to 3‐fold increase in pregnancy complications related to preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction. In addition, the obstetrician has significant difficulties in obtaining and interpreting results from routine tests that screen for pregnancy complications and work well in the pregnancy without obesity.
