GM Amateur Cricket
Cricket is New Zealand’s staple summer sport with more than 100,000 people currently playing the game,
making it one of the most widely played sports in the country.
New Zealand Cricket is responsible for the administration of the game in New Zealand, with delivery of
grassroots, club, school and representative programmes managed through six regional Major
Associations. New Zealand Cricket also administers the New Zealand men’s international team, The
BLACKCAPS and the women’s international team, The White Ferns, as well as the New Zealand A, U19
teams and emerging players.
As a result of a recent strategic review, we have created a new role of GM Amateur Cricket, reporting
directly to the CEO. This is a full time role based at NZC’s High Performance Centre at Lincoln
University.
The main function of the position is to ensure that Major and District Associations deliver agreed amateur
cricket priorities, including governance, administration, financial and relationship management, and to act
as the “champion” for all levels of amateur cricket in NZC and the wider cricket and sports community.
We’re looking for applicants who have experience of working in the management and administration of
cricket at a senior level, ideally at MA or DA level, and who have a strong track record in dealing
comfortably with senior & executive management teams & boards in a variety of formal presentation
settings.
The ideal applicant will also:




Have a good understanding of modern sports governance
Have good commercial skills and knowledge including financial management
Have an understanding of the cultures that drive organisations
Be results-driven with effective planning skills
A tertiary qualification in Business or a related discipline would be favourably regarded.
