Inter-Fellowship Association Constitution
Mission Statement
“The Inter-Fellowship Association exists to promote the Kingdom of God on CMU’s campus
by serving the CMU Christian Body. This is done primarily by facilitating communication,
encouraging unity, and bridging outreach efforts amongst and across the Body. If possible
and when necessary, the IFA will act as a liaison between the internal Christian community at
CMU and surrounding external Christian churches and organizations.”
Leadership Roles & Responsibilities
Overall Coordinator
The Overall Coordinator works with the other coordinators to ensure meetings are run
smoothly and duties are completed.
On-Campus Outreach Coordinator
The On-Campus Outreach Coordinator(s) is responsible for organizing and/or unifying
Christian fellowships through outreach opportunities on the Carnegie Mellon campus. The
main focus for the On-Campus Outreach Coordinator is Orientation Week Outreach.
Service Chair (usually two people)
The Service Chair(s) is responsible for organizing and/or notifying Christian fellowships about
outreach opportunities outside of the Carnegie Mellon campus. A key aspect of this position
is organizing Philly Missions, which is an annual mission trip to Kensington Avenue in
Philadelphia, PA.
Fellowship Coordinator
The Fellowship Coordinator(s) has the primary responsibility for allowing ease of
communication between the various Christian fellowships on campus and also for organizing
events where the Christian fellowships can share experiences. The Fellowship Coordinator is
in charge of organizing All Campus Praise Night and Fellowship Leadership meetings.
Advisor
The Advisor is a staff worker or campus minister who is actively involved on the Carnegie
Mellon campus that provides oversight and mentorship to the student leadership team.
Leadership Transitions
Each individual leadership position is transferred by the current coordinator (or advisor) to the
new coordinator. The current leadership team must agree unanimously on the new
coordinator.
Because of the nature of the Off-Campus Outreach Coordinator position, new coordinators for
this position should have experience with Philly Missions.
Communication Structure
Micro
With micro communication, the message originates from one of the Christian fellowships on
campus and is passed to rest of the community through the fellowship leaders. This message
could be a notification about an outreach event, an invitation to join in prayer, etc. This is the
primary focus of IFA’s communication.
Macro
With macro communication, the message originates from IFA or an external organization and
is passed to the various Christian fellowships and fellowship leaders. This message could be
notification about an event, facilitating dialogue between the fellowships, etc.
Statement of Assurance
IFA will abide by the Carnegie Mellon University Statement of Assurance.

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from
God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the
authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For
rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is
in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant
for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is
the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one
must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
