July 14, 2017 Subject: Math and Project Lead the Way Changes/Updates Dear Parents, We were excited to welcome your students to PCHS to start the 2014-15 school year today! This letter’s purpose is to inform you of a few modifications to your student’s instructors and/or courses in the Mathematics or Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Departments. These modifications were necessary based upon staff adjustments occurring over the summer. Patricia Kissinger, Mathematics Teacher, is a new staff member at PCHS, and will be teaching Algebra 2 and Geometry courses. Ms. Kissinger holds a Mathematics and Secondary Education degree from Rockhurst University, a Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling in Secondary Education from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and brings more than 30 years of teaching math as a private tutor and teacher. Jessica Anderson, Mathematics Teacher, will teach two Algebra 2 courses and all Honors Algebra 2 courses. Mrs. Anderson has taught at PCHS for six years and received her Mathematics and Secondary Education degree from Missouri Valley College and a masters in Curriculum Instruction from Park University. Mark Blakley, PLTW Teacher, is a new staff member, and will be teaching PLTW’s Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) courses. The CIM course provides opportunities related to understanding manufacturing, including the manufacturing processes, product design, robotics, and automation. The CIM course has replaced the Digital Electronics/Engineering Design and Development Course. Mr. Blakley received a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology and Secondary Education, both from Northwest Missouri State University. He has been teaching since 1981, and has served as PLTW/Industrial Technology Instructor/Coordinator at Mill Valley High School in Desoto, Kansas; Liberty North High School, Liberty, Missouri; and Benton High School, St. Joseph, Missouri. Roberta Rudolph, former PCHS Mathematics Teacher, will be teaching PLTW courses (two IED and two Principles of Engineering [POE] courses). Mrs. Rudolph has been certified to teach PLTW course and has previously taught POE classes. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and was employed as an engineer for six years at Chevrolet Engineering in Michigan. She earned a Masters of Art degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, and has been teaching Mr. Blakley and Mrs. Rudolph welcoming PLTW students today. mathematics at PCHS since 1996. No schedules have been changed with these modifications; changes to your student’s teacher are outlined below: If your student had Roberta Rudolph for Algebra 2 or Geometry, he/she will have Patricia Kissinger. If your student had Roberta Rudolph for Honors Algebra 2, he/she will have Jessica Anderson. If your student had Mark Blakley for PLTW (hours 4-7), he/she will have Roberta Rudolph. We are excited about the new opportunities for your students at PCHS and welcome your input. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 816-858-2822.
