ANTHROPOLOGY HONOURS REQUIREMENTS
The honours degree is designed for high-achieving students intending to pursue graduate studies. Your work is
held to a higher standard, the curriculum is more comprehensive, and you will work with a committee of faculty
members to create your own research project, usually in the final year of your degree.

60 credit hours in Anthropology selected from the list on the previous page and including:
6 credit hours from each of the four subfields on the previous page;
3 credit hours in Anthropological Methods (see below); and

COOPERATIVE EDUCATION IN ANTHROPOLOGY
The Anthropology Department at Saint Mary's emphasizes experiential learning and public engagement. To this
end, we offer a Cooperative Education option for high-achieving students interested in combining academic study
and practical experience. Students must complete 45 credit hours by the end of the semester in which they apply
for cooperative education (i.e. normally in the first half of year two) and, for Anthropology Majors, must have a
GPA of at least 3.30 (B+).
