Subject requirements for studying AS levels
1. A minimum of 7 GCSEs at Grade A* - C.
2. An average GCSE points score of 45 from your 7 best subjects, including maths, an English grade
and a science grade (see the example below).
3. Specific grades for certain subjects (see over page)
To calculate your average GCSE points score you need to add
your grade points together and divide by the number of GCSEs
you have taken. Short courses are not included in the average
GCSE calculation and BTEC Level 2 Certificates and OCR
National Certificates are given one grade as follows:



