Clare Allen, the manager at Randolph Hill Nursing Home, and her team of activity staff work
very hard to provide a wide range of activities to meet the needs of all their residents
To enhance your physical well being we offer a range of physical activities. These can take
place within the home or in the garden or in external settings.
Activities can include gentle movement to music which can be enjoyed from the comfort of a
chair and catching and throwing games for the more adventurous residents.
There is a large accessible garden for gentle strolls and
we always encourage those residents with “green fingers”
to help with planting up the pots.
Weather permitting we can walk into the picturesque village of Dunblane and enjoy a cup of
coffee and some cake. Or you can sit on the lovely new sun terrace that has been built at
Randolph Hill.
For those residents who are more of an armchair fan of sports we have a large screen
projector which we use to cover all the major sporting events.
Wimbledon is always popular with both the ladies and
gentlemen of Randolph Hill and this is made even more
popular with the traditional offering of strawberries and
cream.
We also recognise that moving into a care home can be a very emotional experience and
our activity staff will be happy to offer one to one sessions with residents to offer support.
It can be good to reminisce and sometimes this is made more
enjoyable with the company of other residents.
Regular church services are held within Randolph Hill and we are regularly boosted by the
ladies from nearby Dunblane Cathedral who “swell the voices” in our choir.
Our social Calendar is always bursting with “too many choices”.
There are lots of activities on offer within the home. For those residents who are creative
we offer flower arranging, knitting circle, craft sessions to name but a few.
Those who like to keep their minds busy can join in with the regular
quiz nights and current affairs discussions /what’s happening in the
news papers.
For those Randolph Hill residents who are more competitive we offer in house games
competitions, dominoes, indoor bowls, board games and the ever popular bingo session.
We also take part in the annual Elliot Nicol Trophy games when we compete with the other
Nursing Homes within our group, which means regular visits to our other homes in
Edinburgh, North Berwick and Gullane.
Entertainment is also popular and we regularly have concerts, accordionists and singers
visiting the home.
It is sometimes just necessary just to have some relaxing time and for the ladies we offer
pampering sessions which include foot spas, manicures and massages. Not forgetting our
weekly hairdressing appointment.
The gentlemen are not forgotten and sometimes it can be quite nice to spend time with some
of the other male residents watching a film or sometimes popping into the local town for a
quiet pint.
We appreciate that residents will have had a variety of individual interests and we do our
best to ensure that these are not forgotten. This is why the information we gather for our My
Life Story is so helpful. Some of the gentlemen in Randolph Hill were avid football fans and
regularly supported their favourite team. Due to this information we have been able to take
one gentleman to a football match and let him have a tour of the trophy room.
At Randolph Hill we are always looking for new activities and always welcome suggestions
from our residents and their family and friends.
