AUDITWATCH TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS
Power Play is a consulting service that allows you to work with our experienced auditors to perform analyses and testing of your clients’
data using specialized software. We help you design your tests, obtain electronic data from your clients, perform the analyses and send
the results back to you in an easy-to-understand format. No more costly software licenses, extensive training or struggling with your
clients to get information!
POWER PLAY — INCREASE AUDIT QUALITY AND EFFICIENCY
Today’s audit standards all but mandate the use of data extraction
software on our engagements. While some firms have chosen
to purchase licenses of these software tools and have all of their
users trained to use them, many firms may not have that luxury.
AuditWatch’s Power Play allows your firm to outsource your data
extraction needs to a qualified expert. We can help you:
WHAT IS DATA EXTRACTION?
Data extraction is a powerful tool that improves the quality of
audit evidence with a significant reduction in cost. Data extraction
gives you the power to:
• Import your clients' electronic financial data
• Perform automated audit tasks, such as selecting samples or
scanning populations for potential misstatements
• Perform audit procedures, such as the review of journal entries
required by AU-C Section 240, that are difficult to perform
manually
• Produce reports with the information you need in the format
best suited for audit procedures, such as analytical procedures
• Easily analyze reports provided by your client that were earlier
considered “ugly” and “unusable”
• Harness the power of data extraction on your engagements
• Increase quality and efficiency of your audits, specifically in
complying with AU-C Section 240 and other audit standards
• Eliminate the risk of having your data extraction expertise
“walk out the door”
• Minimize or eliminate expensive software purchases and
maintenance fees
Using Power Play allows your engagement team to focus on
other important areas, while your data extraction procedures are
being performed by our consultants and returned to you for your
reporting. This process allows for maximum efficiency on both
ends, all while reducing the amount of time (and money!) your staff
spends on each audit area.

THE AUDITWATCH ACCOUNTING
AND AUDITING UPDATE
Designed for accountants in public practice and industry that
want to increase their effectiveness in auditing employee
benefit plans, this course provides an in-depth review of ERISA
regulations and focuses on an efficient compliance audit
methodology for those rules. Regulators are concerned about
compliance with DOL and IRS regulations — not just traditional
financial statement reporting. Therefore, auditors need to focus
on two issues: 1) what constitutes noncompliance and how
noncompliance might occur and 2) what the auditor is required
to test to determine if there is noncompliance. This course
explains how to audit employee benefit plans in compliance
with DOL and the AICPA Audit and Accounting Guide: Employee
Benefit Plans. Discussion will focus on common deficiencies
in examining contributions, distributions, participant data,
investments and prohibited transactions.

2 CPE Credits | Auditing
The primary objective of a sales and
use tax audit is to determine, with the
least possible expenditure of time,
whether the business selected for
audit has paid the correct measure of
tax. This interactive self-study course
addresses how a taxpayer would prepare for the audit by educating the
taxpayer on how the audit is selected,
how the state notifies the taxpayer
of the audit and explains the period
of time the sales tax audit will cover.
Next, the course walks the taxpayer
through the initial audit conference
and the audit plan that the state
will employ. In addition, the course
explains the sales tax audit tests and
procedures utilized by the state sales
tax auditors. Finally, the audit closing
conference that the state will hold
with the taxpayer and how the taxpayer protests tax assessments by the
state is discussed.

AUDITING UPDATE 2017
ETHICS IN TAX PRACTICE: FLORIDA
PBADUP17 | 2 CPE | $50
PBETFLDV16 | 4 CPE | $99
This year-in-review update of auditing issues begins with a look at
guidance related to several topics: SAS No. 131, SAS No. 130 and
SSAE No. 18, as well as the 2016 Center for Audit Quality Alert.
The course then looks at PCAOB changes and the most recent
audit issues that would impact a public accounting firm that audits
only nonpublic entities.
AUDITS OF 401(K) PLANS
PB401K17 | 8 CPE | $130
The purpose of this course is to assist the independent qualified
CPA to properly conduct the work necessary in the audit of 401(k)
defined contribution retirement plans. The course focuses on
the unique ERISA and tax issues involved in the accounting, tax
reporting and ultimately the auditing of the financial statements of
401(k) employee benefit plans.
COMPILATION AND REVIEW GUIDE
PBCARDV16 | 11 CPE | $179
This interactive self-study course provides accountants with
guidance on preparation, compilation and review engagements.
Although there are fewer authoritative standards for these
engagements, they far outnumber the quantity of audits
performed each year. The standards and applicable guidance to
these engagements are provided in the introductory chapter.
The performance of preparation, compilation and review
engagements is discussed, and separate chapters on reporting
are included.
ETHICS FOR CPAs
PBETCPDV16 | 4 CPE | $99
This interactive self-study course offers the CPA a good overview
and refresher of the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct. The
course covers the areas of independence, integrity, objectivity,
general standards, adherence to GAAP and acts discreditable. It is
designed to provide the CPA with a guide for identifying, evaluating
and dealing with ethical dilemmas in addition to giving guidance
on the laws, rules and regulations that govern the CPA profession.
CPAs who prepare tax returns and represent taxpayers before
the IRS and Florida State tax authorities are subject to a variety
of rules that regulate their professional conduct. In addition to
observing the rules of practice established by the Florida Board
of Accountancy, Florida CPAs must also follow rules of conduct
imposed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). The AICPA’s
General Standards and Statements on Standards for Tax Services
(SSTS) establish ethical standards for CPAs when practicing before
any taxing authority — state, local or federal. Treasury Circular 230
governs those authorized to practice before the IRS. This course
examines how these three sets of ethical guidance interact and
fit together to provide a strong ethical framework for the CPA’s
practice of preparing tax returns and providing tax advice in the
State of Florida by explaining each document and how each
relates to the other. For example, guidance in one document,
such as Circular 230, may be incorporated by reference in another
document that requires compliance with “all federal and state
regulations” because Circular 230 is a “federal regulation.” While
State rules are the foundation upon which all other rules must rest,
not all rules addressing ethical tax practice are addressed in the
rules of the Florida Board of Accountancy. Where a rule appears
in the SSTS or in Circular 230, this course will examine the rule to
determine its application as an ethical standard.
FORM 1040: A PRACTICAL GUIDE
PB1040DV15 | 24 CPE | $289
This interactive self-study course primarily covers the principles of
federal income taxation as they relate to individuals. The material
has been organized and arranged in a format that is comparable
to Pages 1 and 2 of Form 1040, with an expanded discussion
of those areas that branch out to the more detailed schedules
that accompany the basic form. The material is also designed
to reinforce understanding of the conceptual framework of the
individual federal income tax scheme while going beyond the
mechanical aspects of compliance.
GAAP GUIDE: COMPLETE
PBGAAPDV16 | 28 CPE | $319
This workbook consists of three courses covering the balance
sheet, the income statement and financial analysis and advanced
GAAP topics.
PREMIER AND PREMIER PLUS PACKAGES: Both Premier and Premier Plus subscription packages include UNLIMITED access to online
grading for CPE credit for PPC, Quickfinder and RIA self-study courses. Details: page 28.
