SUMMER TERM NEWSLETTER 2015
Dear Parents
The Summer Term is almost over and the teachers and children are getting ready for the
end of term. We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful summer
and look forward to seeing you in September.
Football
This term has seen the fabulous achievement by Barcelona FC who have conquered
Spanish and International football by winning the “triplete”.
all
I am sure you will
wish to join me in congratulating them for their hard work and
amazing accomplishments.
SCHOOL SHOW
The school show for KS2 this year is “Move It” and will as usual take place at
Colegio Menesiano on Wednesday 17th June at 18.30pm.
Rehearsals are well under way and the children and teachers have been
practising very hard.
The plot is about 4 rival dance crews who are competing for a place in a
regional dance competition. There is plenty of drama and music, singing and
dancing. The school is organising a professional to come and video the whole
show so that parents can relax and enjoy watching the show without the
stress of taking photos and video. The cost of the video varies depending on
the number of parents who wish to purchase it.
INTERNATIONAL EVENING
The “International Evening”, our annual social evening for parents, will place on Friday 19th
June at 19.30pm. This event is part fundraiser and part social event. We have many parents,
especially those in Year 6, who have volunteered to help. There will be a Raffle, bottle stall
and various other games and stalls. The caterers will provide tapas and drinks and parents
will be bringing food from their countries. All parents are welcome and Year 6 children ONLY
as it is also their farewell to Numont. We look forward to seeing you all there. It is normally a
great evening.
Trip to Strasbourg
Some of the Year 6 children entered a schools competition organised by the
Council of Europe. Numont was one of 3 schools to win. The children had
to draw pictures in the form of comics representing various themes to do
with the internet and human rights.
The prize includes an all-expenses paid trip to Strasbourg for 2 children
and a teacher. They will be going on the 16th to the 19th June.
Adriana Preda and Elizabeth Smith will be going with Mrs Pammy. They
will have to present their work to a panel of judges and explain the
meaning of their drawings.

Volleyball, and Rounders.

celebrating Madrids patron saint.
SCHOOL EXCURSIONS
Every term, 2 excursions are usually organised for each class. The teachers choose the
excursions and try and make it relevant to topics they are studying that particular term.
In the Summer term because of the SATs, the school show, and as it is the end of the school
year, the excursions usually include one that is a ”fun” trip. This term, however as it was a
shorter term than usual some classes only went on one trip.
YEAR 6
It’s been a busy year, assemblies, SAT’s, trips and the school show “Move It”.
Mrs Kennedy
The annual disco for Year 6 will take place at ISM on Monday 22nd June in the evening. The
children will have pizza and refreshments and meet the Year 6 children from ISM. Mrs Gemmell,
and Mrs Kennedy will also attend.
Year 6 will be going to a multi-adventure park on Monday 22rd June as their end of school trip.
Year 5
Year 5 went to the Archeological Museum on June 5th as they have
been studying the ancient Greeks. They are going to the Reina Sofia on
the 19th to look at works of modern art, especially those of Picasso,
which they studied last term.
They are also going to have a pyjama party on the 23rd June.
Year 4
Year 4 are going to Faunia on Monday 22nd June
Year 3
Year 3 went to the Geominero Museum and did a “workshop”. They are
going to the Botanical gardens on the 19th June to do the “workshop”,
“misterios de la selva”.
Year 2
Year 2 have been to the “Biblioteca Nacional” and done a “workshop”
on “trajemundi”. They are also going to visit the castle at Manzanares el
Real. They have been studying about castles and in their Design and
Technology class made one from scratch. This involved planning,
designing and building it, using their knowledge and imagination.
Year 1, Reception and Nursery.
Year 1 went to the Botanical Gardens where they did the workshop
“Pequeños Exploradores”. Reception went to Faunia and spent the
whole day there and Nursery 1 went on their annual zoo trip. They were
lucky with the weather which meant they were able to see all the shows
as well as walk around the zoo and see all the animals.
Reception were also very fortunate in that the police visited the school
bringing with them a police car and a fire engine which the children
took in turns to climb in and sound the sirens.
ASSEMBLIES
Nursery 1.
For their Summer Show Nursery 1 sang songs about Summer-time, under
the sea, and of course Summer holidays! The y had a great time performing
in front of their mums and dads. They were super! Well done. 
Mrs Majella
Nursery 2
Reception A.
The children in Reception A performed an amazing assembly in the
Summer Term. They sang about “Sea Creatures” and “Sunshine” as well as
some classic Summer songs such as Summer Holiday” by Cliff Richard
and “Octopus Garden” by the Beatles.
Well done for a super Assembly!!
Mr Mcleod
Reception B.
In May we sang some songs about summer journeys. The children
particularly enjoyed singing “Red Sails” and doing the actions for “Steam
Train”. The last song “School’s Out for Summer” was also a big hit and the
children loved being rock stars at the end of the show!
Well done to all of them!
Miss Dolley
Year 1A &1B
Year 1A spent the month of May talking about oceans. We also studied fish
and other creatures that live in “Under the Sea”. We decided to create a
show with this in mind and also read one of our favourite books,
“Commotion in the Ocean” for inspiration.
Miss Mary & Miss Hannah
Year 2A.
Year 2A performed “Peggy and Leggy the Pint-sized Pirates. The
Assembly was about teaching children that you have to be determined to
try hard to achieve your dreams and that you should never throw litter in
the sea!
The children worked very hard learning their lines and all the songs, and
each child turned out a wonderful performance. It was a great success and I
am very proud of the whole class. Well done!!
Mr Marugan.
Year 2B.
Year 2B has had a great time learning about castles, visiting the castle at
Manzanares and finally performing a castle assembly at school. They are
now experts on castles! Well done children!
Mrs Jessica
Year 2C
Year 2C have been studying and learning all about castles and the role of a
knight. Our Assembly was based on all we had learned. The children
dressed up in princess and knight costumes. They all learned their lines
really well and sang songs and even performed a medieval dance. All their
work was displayed on the walls so parents could appreciate all the hard
work they had done in class.
The children all did really well and tried their best. Well done!
