Xavier Cirera is a trade economist with an interest in the impact of trade reform and regional integration. He has extensive
experience in Southern Africa, especially in Mozambique. He is currently a research fellow in the Globalisation Team at
the Institute of Development Studies. Recent research focuses on analysing the impact of different regional and
preferential trade agreements, GSP and EPAs; as wells as research on how firms introduce new products for exporting.
Other interests include the analysis of spatial price variations, the functioning of rural markets, and the impact of income
distribution on food demand and trade and climate change policies.
