ISSUES TO CONSIDER: VACCINATION STRATEGIES: RING VS. MASS VACCINATION
Ring Vaccination (targeted vaccination) is a strategy in which only direct contacts (friends, family members, and
coworkers) of confirmed smallpox victims are identified and vaccinated.
Mass Vaccination is a strategy in which all persons in an area (city, region, or entire country) are vaccinated,
whether exposed to the smallpox virus or not.
