Gulfport School District Gulfport Central Middle School 20152016 Lesson Plan Design Martin 7th Grade PreAlgebra 3/28/16 4/1/16 Ready Common Core Lesson 18: Problem Solving with Angles Essential Question(s): • How can I combine prior knowledge of solving equations and facts about s
upplementary, complementary, vertical, and adjacent angles to find the value of an unknown angle? Objective: CCSS.7.G.B.5:
Use facts about supplementary, complementary, vertical, and adjacent angles in a multistep problem to write and solve simple equations for an unknown angle in a figure. Tuesday 3/29/16 Bell Work:
Operations with Rationals Anticipatory Set:
Reviewing types of angles (acute, obtuse, straight, right). Procedures/Teacher Input
: TSW complete the bell work. TTW review the bell work. TSW will use the angles PPT to introduce and define new types of angles such as adjacent, vertical, complementary, and supplementary angles. TTW guide students through finding the identify the angles that are adjacent, vertical, complementary, and supplementary angles. TTW also guide students as they find the degree of the missing angle. Vocabulary: Adjacent angles:
Two angles that are next to each other and share a common ray. Complementary angles:
Two angles whose measure add up to 90 degrees. Supplementary angles
: Two angles whose measure add up to 180 degrees. Vertical angles:
Two angles that are opposite to one another and congruent. Check for understanding/Closure:

Solving Equations Evaluations:
TTW informally assess throughout the duration of the class checking for misunderstandings. TTW also assess each student, by checking the independent assignments for correctness and time. Wednesday 3/30/16 Bell Work:
