School of Nursing, Midwifery & Indigenous Health Short Term Student International Workplace Learning Placements These are usually of two week duration and facilitate students to travel (with a CSU professional/academic supervisor) to undertake workplace learning practice affiliated with a subject in their course. PROPOSED VISIT TO KENYA Dates Subject codes: Duration Estimated cost Nov/ Dec 2015 NRS223 Essential Nursing Care: Chronic and Complex Nursing 2 weeks $4900 Destination: Kilifi County in Kenya, on the East African coast. Placement: The focus will be on Primary Healthcare and health education in a Kenyan hospital at Kilifi and in local community clinics. The placement will be divided into two parts (one in an acute facility and the other in a community clinic). Translators / health professionals Community Healthcare care workers will accompany the group. Accommodation: ECO Village (on the East Africa Coast) Cost includes: Flights, airport transfers, transport on the ground, orientation, accommodation, most meals, pre-organisation project, equipment and medical supplies, 24 hour support. Students will need to provide a visa, vaccinations and any cost for free time activities. Numbers required: A minimum of 10 students accompanied by a CSU academic.
