Project Title: Segmentation and Grading of Skin Lesions
Synopsis: Eczema is the most common form of
dermatitis. It is an inflammation of the skin. The general
symptoms of eczema are dry, red and inflamed skin. As
a result the appearance of diseased skin is different
from normal skin. This difference can be exploited using
image processing techniques using information from
the color and texture of lesions in the images.
In this work image processing algorithm will be
developed for segmenting Eczema skin lesions. It will
help in the development of an automated approach to
identify the extent of atopic eczema.
Data (Image) Acquisition: Digital Camera and color
filters
EE-HNS-01-MAY16
(Dr Humaira Nisar)
Area: Image Processing,
Implementation: Matlab ,
Complexity: Medium to High
Expected Output: Algorithms for segmentation and
grading of Eczema
No.12
Project Title: Image Stitching to make a panorama or
virtual slide
EE-HNS-02-MAY16
(Dr Humaira Nisar)
Synopsis:
Image stitching is the process of combining multiple
photographic images with overlapping fields of view to
produce a panorama or high-resolution image. In case
of microscopic images this technique is used to develop
virtual microscopic slides for analysis.
At high magnifications the whole slide cannot be
covered in one step. Therefore individual images have
to be combined together spatially to convert into a
single image.
Area: Image Processing
Implementation: C/C++ or Matlab.
Complexity: Medium to High
Expected Output: A method for image stitching/ virtual
slide preparation.

It is known that the level of stress varies in students
from the beginning to the end of the trimester. Stress
levels also affect the cognition in different ways. In this
project we will study the effect of stress on cognition
using electro-physiological signals.

Project Title: Continuous Heart rate monitoring for
people using non invasive method
EE-HNS-05-MAY16
(Dr Humaira Nisar)
Synopsis:
In this project it is required to measure the heart rate of
a subject using video sequence. This is an extension of a
previous project in which heart rate was measured for a
subject who is sitting still in front of the camera.
However in this project we want to measure heart rate
of a subject while he is driving the car. The associated
motion will introduce blur in the video, hence additional
methods will be required to process the image and
measure correct heart rate.
Area: Signal Processing
Implementation: Matlab , EEG Lab
Complexity: Medium to High
Expected Output: A non invasive automatic method for
HR measurement
