Geometry Vocabulary Unit 2
PLEASE COPY
Angle: given two intersecting lines or line segments, the amount of rotation about
the point of intersection (the vertex)
Complimentary Angle: complementary angles are two angles whose sum is 90
degrees
Supplementary Angle: two angles are said to be supplementary if their sum is 180
degrees
Adjacent: two angles in the same plane that have a common vertex and a common
side, but no common interior points.
Vertical: two nonadjacent angles formed by intersecting lines or segments. Also
called opposite angles
Congruent: figures having the same size and shape
Parallel Line: two lines that do not intersect
Triangle: a three sided polygon
Transversal: a line that intersects two or more lines
Corresponding Angles: angles that have the same relative positions in geometric
figures
Vertex: The common endpoint of two line segments that serve as two sides of a
polygon
