Faculty Council Committees’ Purpose Statements
Standing committees
A.
Executive committee
B.
The purpose of the executive committee shall be a conduit between the administration and
faculty. The executive committee is comprised of the chair, vice-chair, and secretary.
C.
The purpose of the calendar committee is to have representation of the faculty on the ATC
College Calendar committee to ensure the concerns of the faculty are addressed.

Calendar committee
Curriculum committee
The purpose of the curriculum committee is to inform faculty of significant curricular
additions, deletions, and revisions to ensure that instructional quality, curricular
innovation, and stakeholder fairness are achieved.
Faculty issues committee
E.
The purpose of the faculty issues committee is to assist in addressing the concerns from the
faculty, and provide information and recommendations to the full Faculty Council prior to
presenting to the Vice-President of Academic Affairs.
F.
The purpose of the facilities committee is to assist the Executive Director of Facilities to;
1.
Provide input and oversight for the maintenance, revitalization, and construction of
the College’s land, buildings, equipment, and technology infrastructure at all campuses;
2.
Relay faculty concerns to the administration regarding allocation of facility
resources;
3.
Promote a safe and healthy environment for students, employees, and visitors to our
campus facilities, and;
4.
Ensure that students have a positive learning experience.
Facilities committee
Student success and retention committee
The purpose of the student success and retention committee is to serve as liaison/bridge
between the faculty, Academic Affairs, Office of Recruitment and Retention, and Student
Affairs and facilitate open communication and make recommendations for strategies,
initiatives, programs, and services to improve student success and retain and support out
diverse student body.

Ad hoc committees

Attendance committee
B.
The purpose of this committee is to provide a recommendation for a college attendance
policy and implementation strategies and timeline to promote students retention and
success.
C.
Distance learning committee
The purpose of the distance learning committee is to establish and maintain open
communication between faculty and the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). The
committee will help develop policies and procedures regarding distance learning and will
recommend and promote best practices and new opportunities for distance learning and
teaching. The committee can offer the CTL the unique, real-world experiences of
instructors who experience first-hand the challenges of teaching our specific student
population online. In addition, the committee will help explore new technologies, emerging
trends, and open access resources.
Cost effectiveness committee
The purpose of the cost effectiveness committee is to review ways to decrease educational
costs in our current programs and classrooms.
