BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN FINANCE PROGRAM OVERVIEW ACCREDITATION The finance major prepares students for management positions, and they are taught the principles of financial decision making in order to build an understanding of the economic, legal, and financial environment in which they will operate. The Bachelor of Science in Finance is accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and is licensed by the KHDA. The program is also accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). As a finance major, students go beyond making a budget; they learn how to analyze a budget and determine opportunities in order to identify the best investment options. Students become familiar with financial systems and financial instruments related to assets and liabilities. Specifically, finance majors study cash flow, asset and risk management, capital markets, portfolio theory, international finance and forecasting and budgeting. Students become experts in decision making – one of the main differences between finance and accounting. Nija Arora "I’m so very proud to be a part of RIT Dubai. I've recently graduated with a major in business and a minor in finance, but it feels like I’m graduating with something so much more than that. Finance students develop their ability to manage corporate finances and enhance their leadership potential. Along with the business core, students are exposed to the main facets of finance, including financial planning, investing, risk assessment and management, and global markets. About Finance Finance is the soul of our economic transactions. It is difficult to think of a world without finance as any economic activity requires money. Similarly, finance is the prerequisite in order to obtain physical resources which are required to perform production operations and carry out business activities such as marketing, paying salaries and so on. Via the RIT Dubai co-op I had a rare opportunity of being accepted for an internship with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in New York. POSSIBLE CAREER OPTIONS Career options exist in government, industry, service, and not-for-profit organizations. Finance majors at RIT Dubai take many different paths including Financial or Investment Banking. Graduates from the finance program have many career options and the level of responsibility in their positions can vary according to the size of the company. There are many students who choose to start their own financial firms as financial planners and stockbrokers. Industry analysts expect consistent growth in the Finance industry. While getting a business degree in finance, students learn from faculty members with significant industry experience. Semester honing skills in a professional environment such as a corporate finance group or a securities/investment banking firm. Upon their graduation, students are well prepared to succeed in the complex business and economic market, using skills taught to them from RIT Dubai.
