General description
TeleSwitch M2
TeleSwitch is a remote control unit operating via the telephone network, with 2 function
channels.
TeleSwitch is connected by means of an existing telephone/fax to the telephone network.
Each of the function channels can be programmed as an output (e.g. to switch on or off
an electric heater, outdoor lighting, etc.) or as an input (e.g. to report
low temperature in a summer house, generate an alarm in the case of a burglary, etc.)
TeleSwitch is a perfect remote controlled switching and reporting unit for
residence, summer house, office and workshop use.

Outputs:
If a function channel is programmed
as an output, you can via telephone
decide whether the output (contact in the
TeleSwitch) is to be closed or opened.
Connection to the public telephone network
2 channels, which can either be programmed to be outputs (control) or inputs (message
or alarm)
4-digit security code
Timer functions from 1 to 99 hours per output.
Pulse activation of outputs (to be specified when ordering)
Alarm via telephone. TeleSwitch rings to a pre-programmed telephone number.
Number of rings before responding. (1 to 9 rings before responding)
Operated by normal touch-tone or mobile telephone.
Remembers the last change or setting in the case of a power cut.
Connected to a 230V mains power supply (a 12V supply can be specified to order).
Grounded to provide additional protection against lightning.
The outputs can be loaded to 230/250V 10A
Manual operation available on the front panel, with channel status indication.
TeleSwitch has a built-in timer function (1 to 99 hours), which makes it possible to
decide how long an output is to remain closed. The timer function can however be switched off.
Inputs:
If a function channel is programmed
as an input, you can via telephone
receive a message whether a connected
message/alarm contact is closed or
open.
D o o r c o n ta c t
T e le S w it c h
(The contact can for example be a non-touch
door contact to report burglary, a water level monitor in a groundwater well, etc.)
If the input is activated (message/alarm switch connection) TeleSwitch can call a predetermined
telephone number and provide a message or alarm tone.
It is also possible to call TeleSwitch and check whether an input is activated.
TeleSwitch is connected to the public telephone network via a normal telephone jack
and can be controlled by a normal touch-tone phone or a mobile telephone.
To ensure that no unauthorized person can ring to a TeleSwitch and interfere with its control of
the inputs and outputs,
It is equipped with a four-digit security code that you can select yourself.
You can choose from two types of TeleSwitch.
Table model M1
and wall-mounted
module M2
M1 is easy to install and can be brought into use without the help of a tradesman.
M2 requires installation by an authorized electrician as the TeleSwitch has to installed
connected to a high voltage distribution panel.
Both types need to be connected to a 230V mains power source.
The output contacts can have a maximum loading of 230 V 16A or 250 V 10A.

Installation:
Programming:
230V mains power is connected to terminals 23 and 24
The ground wire is connected to terminal 15
This provides extra protection against
lightning.
TeleSwitch is programmed so that it can control (switch on/off, start/stop) or report back
(closed/open, message/alarm switch) via the telephone network.

Number of rings (1 to 9) from a telephone to TeleSwitch before it ”answers”.
TeleSwitch should be programmed to answer after several rings
(4 rings are recommended) so that possible wrong number calls are avoided.
, A telephone number to which TeleSwitch is to ring if input 1 is activated and
another telephone number if input 2 is activated.
However the same telephone number can be selected for both inputs.
 Mode for the individual function channel. TeleSwitch has 2 function channels, and each
channel can be set to be either an output or an input. See the next page.
 A four-digit security code so that the person or persons who know
the security code can program or control and check the TeleSwitch.
On leaving the factory the TeleSwitch is preset as follows:

4 rings before the TeleSwitch responds.
, No telephone numbers have been selected for inputs 1 and 2.

Mode 4, meaning Channel 1 and Channel 2 are programmed to be outputs

The security code is initially 4-3-2-1.
If another appliance is to be controlled, this can be done at output 1.
Output 1 is also a potential-free connection.
Mains power can be connected to output 1 by connecting terminal 20 to terminal 23.
The equipment wiring is connected to terminals 19 and 24 respectively.
If appliance is to be connected that requires a different voltage (e.g. a 12V battery)
the voltage supply must come from outside the TeleSwitch unit.

Note!
If an input is activated, the TeleSwitch will ring the programmed telephone number for that
channel.
If the TeleSwitch rings and the handset is lifted, the TeleSwitch will generate a ”dee-doo”
alarm/message tone. If the handset is then hung up, the TeleSwitch will first ring again if the
input has already deactivated (message/alarm contact is open) and thereafter activated again
(message/alarm contact closes).
TeleSwitch rings 6 times per alarm. If the telephone number is engaged, the TeleSwitch will try a
new call after 18 seconds. TeleSwitch tries 3 calls and after those will not try again.
 Programming of the mode. The channels are set for either output or input.
Security code, four digits
All parameter values are set to the factory settings
Channel 1 and Channel 2 can be individually set to be either an output or an input
 If a channel is set to be an output, this output can be remotely controlled to light/extinguish
or start/stop the connected control unit.
 If a channel is set to be an input, that input can be connected to a message or alarm
contact.
When the input is activated (message/alarm contact closes) it is possible to set a
telephone number to which the TeleSwitch will call. If no telephone number is selected
the input status can be read. See the channel input reading procedure on page 7.
If an error is detected during programming, TeleSwitch generates a “dee-doo” alarm tone and
breaks the connection.
 Programming the number of rings before the TeleSwitch responds.
On leaving the factory the TeleSwitch is preset for 4 rings. If you wish to change this number,
perform
programming and setting of the number of rings as follows:
1. Press the Code button on the TeleSwitch and the Code LED lights.

, Programming the alarm telephone number.
TeleSwitch rings to a pre-programmed telephone number if the input
is activated for Channel 1 and/or Channel 2. (message or alarm contact closes)
Each channel can have its own telephone number. If no telephone number is
programmed, TeleSwitch will not alarm; it is always possible to read the status of the
inputs by ringing to TeleSwitch. See the channel input reading procedure on page 7.

 Programming to the factory settings.
Reading the input or output channels:
The factory settings are those with which the TeleSwitch has been delivered.
The input and output channel status can be read. I.e. it is possible to call TeleSwitch and check
whether an input or output is activated or not.
 4 rings before responding.
 No selected telephone number for the input to channel 1.
 No selected telephone number for the input to channel 2.

Remote control:
Remote control concerns the functions that can be performed when you ring to the TeleSwitch.
All remote control requires that the security code is entered.
TeleSwitch ”hangs up” after performing a function or if the code is incorrect or if there is no
action taken for more than 20 seconds.
Pulse activation of an output: (Must be specified when ordering)
With this function it is possible to activate the relay output once in 5 seconds.
The function is used, for example, to open an access port (door opening) from a mobile
telephone.
If the relay-operated output is activated beforehand, the output will be deactivated after 5
seconds.
1. Ring to TeleSwitch. After x number of rings (see programming of ringing) the
TeleSwitch responds with a “ding-dong” tone, then press...
