Sauvignon Blanc Andrews Vineyard Dry Creek 2014 Harvest Date: September 3rd and 8th, 2014 Grape Source: Andrews Vineyard, Dry Creek Blend: Aging: Alcohol: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Stainless steel fermented and aged 13.5% Total Production: 395 cases Release Date: March 2015 Vintage Notes: The 2014 vintage was the third in a row of warmer than average temperatures. The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc was picked earlier this year than the other two vintages and in two separate lots. This was to ensure optimal ripening in both sections of the vineyard that seemed to develop differently this year. The aromatics and flavors on this vintage are brighter than ever. Winemaking Notes: We whole cluster pressed, settled, racked and stainless steel fermented the juice. Since two sections of the vineyard ripened at different times two separate fermentations were performed. Once both were complete we combined the two lots. There was enough weight on the palate this year that we refrained from going into neutral oak barrels. The wine was held under argon to restrict any oxidation and to retain aromatics. We bottled this wine early to capture the fresh aromatics the wine had in its youth. Tasting Notes: The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most aromatic wines we have ever made. Jasmine floral notes jump out of the glass which is matched by kiwi, mango and other tropical fruit. Hints of orange rind and spring rain are also present. The palate is round for Sauvignon Blanc, and flavors of passion fruit and soapstone come through immediately. Great acidity is present, and the long finish is an amalgamation of tropical fruit. This is a bright lively wine meant to be enjoyed chilled in its youth.
