The word biodiversity is short for biological diversity, which refers to the variety of all living things, as
well as the ecosystems and natural processes that support them. To communicate the importance of
biodiversity in our province, here are some key messages you can use:
Biodiversity and variety:
• New Brunswick has great natural beauty and provides diverse habitats for a rich variety of plants and animals.
• We encourage learning about New Brunswick’s animals, plants, and natural places.
Healthy environment; processes that support life; ecosystem services:
• Variety in nature is essential for a healthy environment, which is the foundation of human health and wellness.
We all need clean air, clean water, fertile soil, and nutritious food.
• Spending time in nature makes us feel better.
Appreciation for our natural heritage:
• We all have experiences where we remember our connection to nature.
• As New Brunswickers, we are proud of the natural wonders of our province.
People’s access and personal connection to nature and wild spaces:
• New Brunswick’s nature is all around you, keep it close.
• In New Brunswick, wild spaces are never far away.
Together we will (steward, conserve, protect, nurture, uphold) New Brunswick’s nature and wild spaces:
• It takes a community to care for nature and wild spaces, join us.
Safeguarding our natural heritage for future generations:
• We will protect nature today so that our children and grandchildren will enjoy it tomorrow.
• We all have a role to play in taking care of our natural heritage and protecting it for our children.
