1. Social Darwinism or that the world was locked in a struggle where only the strong
would survive.
2. Hitler did not believe Germany was big enough. To solve this problem, Hitler
proposed Germans find colonies and expand toward the east and Russia.
3. Hitler wanted to “right the wrong” of the Versailles Treaty which had taken
German territory and restricted the German army.
4. In June 1935, Hitler signed a naval agreement with Britain that allowed Germany
to build a navy bigger than what the Treaty of Versailles allowed.
